ESG Code

The Jordan Securities Commission (JSC) announces the publication of the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Code for public consultation with companies listed on the Amman Stock Exchange ASE20 Index, alongside key stakeholders and market participants. This Code represents a strategic milestone in advancing Jordan’s capital market, reinforcing JSC’s commitment to building a transparent, resilient, and future-ready investment environment aligned with global sustainability expectations. Developed in response to accelerating global shifts in sustainable finance, the ESG Code establishes a robust framework for governance, risk management, and disclosure of sustainability-related risks and opportunities, enabling companies to better position themselves for long-term value creation and competitiveness. The Code is fully aligned with the global baseline set by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), including IFRS S1 and IFRS S2, positioning Jordan among markets proactively adopting internationally recognized sustainability disclosure standards. Implementation will follow a phased approach, with ASE20 listed companies forming the first group required to apply the Code starting from the 2027 financial year under an “apply and explain” principle. This approach ensures both accountability and flexibility, while driving meaningful integration of ESG practices into corporate strategy and reporting. Through this initiative, the JSC aims to enhance investor confidence, improve the quality and comparability of disclosures, and strengthen Jordan’s positioning as an attractive destination for sustainable investment. The JSC invites all relevant stakeholders to provide their feedback and insights on the Code, as part of a collaborative process to ensure its effective implementation and alignment with both market realities and international best practices.

Guideline on Good Pharmacovigilance Practice (GVP) IN Jordan (for pharmaceutical products)

This document provides guidance on the application of good pharmacovigilance practice in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. It represents the first version of the Jordanian guidelines for good pharmacovigilance practices. The legal framework for pharmacovigilance of pharmaceutical products for human use, including biological products, in Jordan is given in the pharmacovigilance regulation for the year of 2016. This guideline is intended to facilitate the performance of pharmacovigilance activities in Jordan and applies on marketing authorization holders. The Jordan food and Drug Administration (JFDA) has a core role in coordinating these activities. Additionally, the Jordanian legislations impose responsibility for pharmacovigilance, together with specific obligations (i.e. in terms of tasks and responsibilities), on marketing authorization holders. This guideline is based on the European guidelines for good pharmacovigilance practices and Arab guidelines for good pharmacovigilance practices, this does NOT undermine the right of JFDA to have additional or sometimes changed requirements. Multinational marketing authorization holders shall be attentive to these national requirements and bring the attention of their headquarters to them, consequently, take the necessary measure to comply.
